[sur Nuveeya Ipellie]

Nuveeya est né à Lake Harbour et a vécu à Pangnirtung et à Cape Dorset
avant de s'établir à Frobisher Bay en 1945.  En 1959, il a été hospitalisé à
Hamilton (Ontario) pendant près d'un an.  Nuveeya explique qu'il a appris à
sculpter avec son père Ennutsiak, maintenant décédé et dont l'oeuvre est
très connue, surtout ses sculptures représentant des scènes d'accouchement
traditionnel.  La première sculpture de Nuveeya a été une femme réalisée en
os de baleine; et comme il le dit dans une déclaration biographique: "je
préfère avant tout sculpter des personnages."
